Brunei’s first ride-hailing business, Dart Logistics (Dart) is determined to continue its efforts to provide seamless rides around the country for locals and visitors alike.
Since its inception in May 2017, the company opened employment opportunities, supplemental sources of income, introduced a cashless payment system and achieved other milestones along the way.
Speaking with The Bruneian, Dart’s Sales and Marketing Officer, Muhammad Adib Hj Mahamud said the start-up is performing well, recording more than double growth compared to last year’s numbers.
“We recorded 40,000 rides within the first 12 months of launching and we are hoping to see further increase in the near future.”
Dart has since exceeded its 100,000 rides milestone by October last year.
Flexible-hours and steady income
With close to 200 registered drivers, Dart pioneered a platform for the individuals to earn extra income with 30 per cent of its drivers earning $1,000 monthly and 7 per cent earning more than $1,800.
Meanwhile, their diligent drivers can earn up to $3,000 a month, as the drivers take home 70 to 90 per cent off each transaction.
Seamless and quality service
In a bid to make its service more seamless and convenient for its current market, the ride-sharing business added Dart Credits or an online payment feature to its app in September 2019.
The cashless method aims to give their customers an enjoyable ride without having to worry about preparing the exact amount of monies for their fares, according to Muhammad Adib.
Users can also expect an upcoming In-App chat feature to maintain the privacy of the drivers and riders’ personal details.
Outstanding achievements
The company has received numerous awards locally and regionally including the Outstanding Youth Project Award during the 14th National Youth Day in August 2019 for providing employment to its drivers where a majority are local youth.
In November last year, Dart received the ASEAN Outstanding Young Entrepreneurs Award during the ASEAN Youth Entrepreneur Forum in Kuching Sarawak.
In the same month, the ride-sharing company bagged two awards at the third Brunei Rice Bowl Startup Awards (BRBSA) namely the People’s Choice and Startup of the Year.
